About Me

I'm Jason Xue, a mechatronics engineering student at the University of Waterloo. I'm multidisciplinary with experience in a wide array of skills ranging from software skills like coding and algorithms to hardware skills in electronics and CAD. I am passionate about creating good designs that are efficient and easy to use. To ensure I always do my best work, reflection and self-improvement are core to my lifestyle. I consider myself a hacker of my own habits, and constantly develop ways to amplify strengths and overcome weaknesses.

My love of efficiency manifested during my time at Canada Robotix when I was tasked with creating a fume extraction system for the laser cutter. Given the criteria of being efficient on company resources, I designed a modular system true to my values of good user experience and exceeding expectations on resource efficiency. In my personal projects, I work using the same philosophy as my own personal improvement. I prototype iteratively and mindfully but I am also not afraid of innovative and large changes when needed.

I believe strongly that variety is important to a fulfilling life and recently picked up the guitar, kendo, and game development. I am currently searching for a coop position and always ready for a challenge. Reach me at me@jasonxue.info to connect.
